The Mason-Glazier Fund for Jewish Identity was created in 2016 by Alan Mason and Robert Glazier.
Alan Mason is a pianist noted for his accompaniment of singers of Jewish song. He has performed concerts of Jewish music in many leading venues, including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., for Pro Music Hebraica; Carnegie Hall; and at the White House. Internationally, he has performed Jewish music concerts in Israel, Italy, England, Spain, and Curacao. He was the Program Director of the Winter Jewish Music Concert, one of the nation’s leading Jewish music concerts. He has regularly performed at national conventions of the Union for Reform Judaism, the American Conference of Cantors, and the Cantors Assembly, and at the North American Jewish Choral Festival. He is the Music Director of HaZamir Miami (a chapter of HaZamir: The International Jewish High School Choir). He is Music Director Emeritus of Temple Israel of Greater Miami. He currently serves as President of the Guild of Temple Musicians. From 1996 until 2014 he was Assistant and then Associate Professor of Music at Barry University in Miami.
Robert Glazier is a life-long student of the American Jewish community. As a college student at New College in Sarasota, Florida, he became interested in the sociology of American Jews. He chose the law as his vocation, graduating from Nova University School of Law, where he was Executive Editor of the Law Review. After graduation, he clerked for Judges Daniel S. Pearson and Gerald B. Cope, Jr., of the Third District Court of Appeal. He co-authored Handbook of Florida Evidence, published by Lexis Law Publishing, and served on the Florida Bar Appellate Practice Section Executive Council, and on the Florida Bar Appellate Rules Committee. He practiced for 25 years, focusing on appeals, and was involved in many high-profile and high-stakes cases. During his years practicing law, he continued to be involved in the Jewish community, serving as President of Temple Israel of Greater Miami. Since his retirement from the active practice of law, he has focused his attention on the Jewish community and Jewish identity.
Dr. Mason and Mr. Glazier have been together since 1998, and were married in 2010.
